About - Teknet

Teknet is a company that specializes in GPS Tracking and other services for the Off Road Racing Industry. Prior to 2005, in the western United States, there was really no way that off road race teams could know where their vehicle was in an off road event. In 2005, high end gps tracking equipment from Europe was introduced here in the US by a little known company called IRC. This gps equipment had just been developed a few years earlier for the grand daddy of all events - The Dakar Race. This is a 6000 mile race that goes on for 14 days in the most treacherous parts of Africa. IRC introduced this new gps tracking to off road world in the US. Back in 2005, but internet tracking did not exist at that time.

This is where Teknet came in. IRC needed a company to develop web tracking solutions for their hot new product called the IriTrack. The IriTrack sent gps tracking data up to satellite, then into the internet, and then down to their servers. But there was no live tracking maps when they first started. For several years after 2005, the owner of Teknet, Aaron Burcham, developed live tracking map solutions for IRC and the off road industry. By 2008, Teknet was created to accommodate this need for Live Race Tracking Solutions.

Today in 2012, five years has passed, and Teknet not only provides Live Tracking Maps for IRC, but does the Live Timing for the Events as well. This takes and extremely complicated amount of programming to pull this off for each race with hundreds of vehicles. And still, listening to the demands and needs of the racers and teams, Teknet has also developed tracking solutions for those out there on the race course where there is no internet. With a Laptop and a Satellite phone, a team can get live position data on a map on their laptop all during the race. This product is known as Sat-Trak. Also, for the more budget minded, Teknet has developed the Mile-Trak Service that sends live race data through texting to cell phones, sat-phones and email addresses.

We’ve come a long ways in the last five years. And we look ahead to many future products that we are developing that are sure to please race fans and teams everywhere.
